We are currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer focused on the front end to join our Content team. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a high growth environment with rapidly evolving needs. This individual will engineer solutions for existing problems in our defects queue as an initial focus, with a ramp up to building new features and capabilities for our services in the long term.

What your day could consist of:
  • Produce quality, tested code, and advocate for coding standards and best practices. 
  • Advocate for accessibility and user experience.
  • Troubleshoot and debug large scale systems  (user base of 50K+). 
  • Measure, optimize and re-architect production systems. 
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in the design of services and APIs that enable feature work across our engineering organization. 
  • Collaborate with UI designers and Product Managers to produce the best user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews. 
  • Document and review technical decisions.
  • Support legacy and modern applications in the public cloud and deploy them through CI/CD practices.
  • Participation in the team’s on-call rotation as a service owner (1 week  rotation out of every 5 weeks, roughly).


Technical Environment:
  • Front-end languages and frameworks including: JavaScript, React, AngularJS, Ember, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • We focus on React for all new work, but legacy code exists in all the above.
  • Back-end languages and frameworks including: PHP, Python, Java - Springboot, C#.
  • Tooling including: Git  via gitlab, Webpack, yarn/npm, Playwright (automated testing).


What is needed:
  • 5+ years of front-end software engineering experience.
  • Technical degree or related experience in a software engineering role.
  • Proficient working in React.
  • Proficiency using git, including committing, reverting, merging, branching, diffing, cherry-picking, and other common actions.
  • Willingness to learn new frontend frameworks as needed.
  • Experience in any of the noted back-end technologies is considered a bonus, but not required.
  • Experience writing automated tests. *Bonus if the experience is with Playwright.
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively as needed.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment - both scrum and kanban, or a mix of both.
  • Experience interacting with and consuming RESTful APIs, including security considerations, common patterns, and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of a front end testing framework, such as Jest or React Testing Library.
