The Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team champions and executes technology-enabled
business solutions that have material top-line and bottom-line impact to Apple. We participate
in all elements of the product or program development life cycle, launch revenue-generating
programs, implement cost efficiencies, support sustainable strategies, and establish scalable
technologies.

Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer responsible for the development and design of web
applications and components across both front-end (GUI) and backend. You will design, code,
test, and implement websites and applications for internal or external use, and troubleshoot
issues around performance, response times, capacity, and system limitations. You’ll
collaborate with internal business partners, internal technology resources (database, system,
networking), and external vendors, and ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across
the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and implement large-scale web applications and components across the full stack (front-end GUI and backend).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues around performance, response times, capacity, and system limitations.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners, internal technology resources, and external vendors; maintain applications and ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency.
  • Create and maintain documentation for the applications you build.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a senior software engineering role.
  • 5+ years of the Ruby on Rails framework and Ruby as a core language.
  • 5+ years of API design and interface technologies (JSON, ProtoBuf, REST, RPC, XML, etc.).
  • 5+ years of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) and database design and queries (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Knowledge of integrating GenAI into development workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Testing, CI, and DevOps — working knowledge of integrated testing frameworks (RSpec, MiniTest), CI suites (CircleCI, Jenkins), and DevOps and AWS infrastructure.
  • GoLang and Java — expert knowledge of GoLang, Java, or a similar compiled, high- concurrency, lower-level language (Erlang, C++, Rust, etc.).
  • Analytical, Problem Solving, and Communication Skills — excellent analytical, problem- solving, and communication skills, including cross-functional collaboration and relationship building.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $134,700 and $249,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
