We are Foundational.
We're an early-stage, mission-driven startup tackling one of the most exciting and complex challenges today to create the most precise understanding of space and earth using ground-based lasers.
Using satellite laser ranging (SLR) data we are empowering the next generation of space companies with exquisite data that allows new forms of resilient navigation, earth observation and precise space traffic control - essential for the sustainability and resilience of the space domain, resilient navigation an the future of earth observation.
This mission, this technology... will be foundational the future of civilization.
The Role
We're building a critical platform to ingest, manage, and visualise vast amounts of complex scientific and geospatial data, and we need a passionate, product-minded engineer to build our user experience from scratch.
This is a true greenfield project. You won’t be fixing legacy bugs; you’ll be laying the foundations. (Pun intended). We're looking for a foundational member of our team who wants to take full ownership of the front end, from architectural decisions and stack choices to pixels on the screen. You'll have the autonomy to define our entire front-end, shape our product, and build an intuitive, high-performance application that turns complex data into actionable insights.
What you'll be doing
Taking the lead on all things front end, building our entire application from the ground up using a modern stack.
Owning the architecture, component library, and development patterns.
Bringing your UX sensibilities to the table, working closely with the founding team to translate complex user needs into simple, elegant, and functional designs.
Taming complex data. Our application lives and breathes geospatial information, so you'll be responsible for visualising this data beautifully and efficiently.
Setting the standard for code quality, testing, and performance as the team grows.
Our Ideal Candidate (The Must-Haves)
You have 3+ years of commercial experience, ideally in a fast-paced startup or product-focused environment. You know how to ship, learn, and iterate.
You're a master of modern React and write clean, maintainable TypeScript.
You've built complex apps and deeply understand the challenges of authorisation, user roles, and multi-tenancy.
You love a clean, utility-first workflow and have strong experience with Tailwind and headless component libraries like Radix UI.
You manage server state like a pro and are fluent in React Query (Tanstack Query).
Bonus Points (We'd love it if you...)
Have a passion for advanced data visualisation and have experimented with libraries like d3.js, Three.js, Cesium.js, deck.gl, or mapbox.
Have previous experience building data analytics or scientific applications.
Have opinions on state management and have used tools like Zustand, Redux, or Recoil.
Know your way around Grafana configuration for dashboards.
Have worked with document-based databases (e.g., MongoDB).
Believe in robust code and have experience with testing frameworks like vitest.
You have strong knowledge of specialised geospatial libraries. We need you to hit the ground running with tools like Leaflet to build our core mapping features.
Most importantly, you have a genuine interest and excitement for the space sector!
What We Offer
A high-impact role with genuine ownership and autonomy.
EMI options in a fast-growing VC backed startup in the spacetech industry
Generous compensation and pension contributions
Offices in central London right in the heart of Borough and London Bridge with snacks, tea, coffee and regular socials.
