MongoDB is seeking a Tools Engineer to develop and maintain applications that streamline support processes and accelerate case resolution. In particular, the engineer will participate in the full development lifecycle of web applications and dashboards used by the Customer Engineering organization and MongoDB customers. This includes developing, testing and deploying custom solutions using a variety of technologies, with a focus on modern web technologies (React, Typescript, Node.js, etc.)

This role can be based out of our New York City office or have flexibility to work remotely along the east coast.


Candidate Profile

The right candidate for this role will have:
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal, and written)
  • 8+ years of experience building modern, scalable web applications
  • Highly skilled in developing single-page applications in a modern framework (React, Angular, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of Node.js, and server side Javascript frameworks
  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling and database schema
  • Understanding of key software architectural concepts and how they influence design
  • Good working knowledge of CI/CD, version control, and software containerization concepts
  • Good working knowledge and demonstrable experience with leveraging Machine Learning (ML) techniques for building web apps and services
  • Good working knowledge of software testing practices
  • Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change easily
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams

Nice to haves
  • Good working knowledge of software development with Python
  • Experience with building web apps leveraging AI and using Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • 5+ years of experience developing applications in Salesforce (leveraging Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components)
  • Good understanding of the Salesforce backend, data model and architecture

Position Expectations
  • Be a team player, and proactively make positive contributions to enhancing team synergy
  • Work with the teams’ staff engineers/leads to set and follow the technical directions determined by them
  • Proactively contribute to teams sprint planning, and release planning efforts
  • Perform technical analysis, development, implementation, and release of applications with required customizations
  • Adopting modern tools and techniques to develop clean, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code
  • Own quality and drive automated testing, continuous integration, and deployments
  • Develop technical and non-technical specifications and documentation
  • Collaborate with Product Design team to improve the user experience through developing and implementing clean and consistent UI design
  • Troubleshoot and fix defects for planned releases and production issues
  • Research and find opportunities to utilize best practices, guidelines to improve productivity, scaling and monitoring
  • Actively participate in code reviews, and design reviews

  • Code quality: follow through teams coding standards, best practices, and design patterns; and develop and deploy solutions with desired code coverage and functionality
  • Service delivery: deliver assigned projects and tasks with quality and per priority; and communicate and mitigate any blockers in a timely manner
