Engineering Manager (player/coach; Rails and React)

MoxiWorks is a leader in developing web-based tools to empower real estate professionals. As a key member of the Software Engineering team, you will lead the engineering work on a strategic project using your previous leadership and delivery experience in an Agile environment and your full stack technical acumen (including Rails and React).

 

This is a ‘player/coach’ role (approximately 75/25% split initially as we build the team).

 

We are looking for someone in the Seattle-area; the initial in-person expectations are 1-2 weeks each quarter for Technology Quarterly Planning when teams finalize their roadmaps for the upcoming quarter and when the senior Engineering leaders are in-town. This may become up to 3 days/week in the coming months.

 

We currently have space in the WeWork Bellevue Place location, 800 Bellevue Way NE.

 

As many of the team members will be in/around Vancouver, BC, expect to go up 1x/month for 3-5 days.

 

Also, you will be working with colleagues in multiple time zones, including Australia – please have the ability and willingness to sometimes work during hours enabling real-time collaboration with them.

 

Responsibilities

 

·       Contribute to the development of new product features

·       Lead and mentor a team of internal and external engineers 

·       Translate customer features and business needs into software

·       Drive best practices and development principles, understand key metrics, and finding ways for ongoing improvement

·       Assist Engineering Leadership with Features delivery, managing timelines, and removing blockers to the Sprint goals

·       Help reduce the Support backlog by identifying and eliminating the root cause of high impact issues

 

Qualifications

 

·       Previous engineering management and delivery position(s) in an Agile environment, preferably 3+ years; have built a high performing engineering team(s)

·       7+ years’ software engineer experience

·       Required: Rails and React; desired: AWS, EKS, Buildkite, Postgres, SQL, and Sidekiq

·       Understanding of Scrum framework

·       Exposure to AI

·       Located in the in the Seattle-area; willing and able to meet the in-person expectations of 1-2 weeks each quarter for Technology Quarterly Planning and when the senior Engineering leaders are in-town at our WeWork space in Bellevue, 1x/month 3-5 days in Vancouver, BC; be open to the potential future expectation of up to 3 days/week in-office

·       Ability and willingness, at times, to work during hours enabling real-time collaboration with Australia-based colleagues

·       Understanding of Docker containers and working with them in a development environment

·       Using Git as a code repository and workflow

 

For this role, the salary range is $140-180k and benefits including:
