We’re looking for a Principal Solutions Architect with a strong Front-End focus to lead the technical direction of high-traffic, headless e-commerce projects for major retail brands.

This is not a general software architect role. We specifically need an experienced e-commerce architect who can own front-end architecture, web performance, and technical direction across distributed engineering teams and client engagements.

Location: Europe, LATAM, or Canada.

Tools: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Shopify Plus / Salesforce Commerce Cloud / Big Commerce / SCAYLE, Vercel, CI/CD pipelines, Cursor and/or Claude Code, ChatGPT, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Slack, Jira, Confluence.

Responsibilities:

• Own scalable front-end architecture using Next.js, React, and TypeScript for enterprise e-commerce projects.
• Lead decisions around rendering, state management, data fetching, caching, CDN, and performance.
• Translate business requirements into architecture roadmaps and actionable user stories with acceptance criteria and technical dependencies.
• Work directly with clients, explain architectural trade-offs, and resolve ambiguity before development.
• Provide technical direction to distributed teams and address architectural drift.
• Establish architecture standards, ADRs, coding conventions, and technical documentation.
• Drive Core Web Vitals and measurable web performance improvements.
• Define specifications and technical context that enable both engineers and AI agents to deliver reliable, reviewable code.

Requirements: 

• 3+ years leading front-end architecture and technical direction for distributed engineering teams.
• Strong enterprise e-commerce experience — mandatory. Experience architecting solutions with Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, or a similar enterprise commerce platform.
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern Next.js, including App Router and React Server Components.
• Strong knowledge of SSR, caching, CDN/edge delivery, serverless patterns, and modern web architecture.
• Proven production experience improving Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) with measurable results.
• Experience communicating architectural decisions and trade-offs to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong spoken and written English.
• Experience with AI-assisted/agentic engineering beyond personal AI tool usage — writing specifications, acceptance criteria, documentation, and technical context that AI agents can reliably execute against.

Nice to Have:

• Headless commerce architecture experience.
• Shopify Storefront API, SFCC Composable Storefront, BigCommerce, or similar.
• Headless CMS: Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack.
• Vercel, CI/CD, Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
