Okta’s First Party Apps Platform team is part of Access Essentials and builds secure web experiences for end-user authentication and access. Products include the Okta Sign-In Widget, End User SSO Dashboard, and Okta Browser Plugin.

About the role

The Staff UI Software Engineer provides senior technical leadership for high-visibility web experiences and frontend platform capabilities used throughout Okta’s identity products.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure, scalable frontend architecture and reusable user-interface systems.
• Develop production applications with React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Improve frontend performance, accessibility, maintainability, testing, and developer workflows.
• Collaborate across product, design, security, platform, and backend engineering teams.
• Provide technical direction, review architecture, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards.
• Own complex UI features through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operation.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional frontend engineering experience.
• Deep React, TypeScript/JavaScript, browser-platform, HTML, and CSS expertise.
• Experience with modern bundlers and build systems such as Webpack or Vite.
• Strong understanding of web security, performance, testing, accessibility, and scalable component architecture.
• Staff-level technical leadership and ability to solve ambiguous cross-team problems.
