Okta’s Business Technology organization builds internal systems that support the company’s operations. This role contributes to Compass, an internal data and knowledge platform, alongside other high-performance web applications and backend services.

The opportunity

The Full Stack Software Engineer designs, develops, and deploys scalable applications using React on the frontend and Java on the backend, with ownership of backend APIs and important Compass capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable web applications and product features with React and Java.
• Lead development of backend services and APIs with a focus on performance, stability, and scalability.
• Deliver features and improvements for the Compass internal platform.
• Design maintainable application architecture, data access, and service integrations.
• Test, deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems.
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders and contribute to technical design and engineering standards.
• Explore appropriate AI integrations for internal workflows and knowledge systems.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack software-engineering experience.
• Production experience with React and Java/Spring.
• Experience with REST APIs, PostgreSQL or similar databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and scalable backend architecture.
• Strong problem solving, ownership, and ability to deliver reliable internal platforms.
