The ChatGPT Image Generation team turns advances in multimodal AI into image creation, editing, and transformation experiences used by creators, professionals, businesses, and consumers. The team works across research, product, design, mobile, frontend, platform, and infrastructure.

About the role

This Full Stack Engineer owns product experiences end to end across interactive frontend interfaces, real-time workflows, backend services, APIs, orchestration systems, and data infrastructure. The work focuses on making sophisticated visual AI capabilities intuitive, fast, reliable, and scalable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and launch image-generation and image-editing experiences inside ChatGPT.
• Develop highly interactive frontend experiences for multimodal workflows.
• Build scalable backend services, APIs, and workflows for image creation, editing, storage, sharing, and retrieval.
• Partner with researchers to prototype and productionize new multimodal capabilities.
• Own projects from concept through technical design, implementation, experimentation, launch, measurement, and iteration.
• Improve performance across frontend rendering and responsiveness as well as backend latency, reliability, and scalability.
• Build systems capable of supporting large numbers of concurrent users and visual-content interactions.
• Contribute to architecture, testing, observability, developer productivity, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping production applications across frontend and backend systems.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies.
• Experience with scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Strong product instincts and comfort using experimentation, metrics, and user feedback.
• Interest in multimodal AI; experience with creative tools, media platforms, image processing, or AI products is a plus.

Compensation

$185K – $385K plus equity.
