Objective of the Role


We’re looking for a versatile Senior Mobile Engineer with extensive experience in React Native & React ecosystems. You should have an in-depth understanding of both the Apple and Android ecosystems, having built and distributed production level applications for both platforms using React Native. Your input and experience will help us maintain and develop our React Native apps that enable hundreds of thousands of scientists to share, discover and discuss research on the go.

The team


You will be an integral part of the product team dedicated to enhancing ResearchGate’s researcher-facing product. This role involves designing, constructing and refining the platform to further our mission of facilitating global scientific connections and ensuring open access to research. At present, our team is deeply focused on prioritizing the user experience, particularly in terms of how ResearchGate can best support researchers in staying up to date on the latest relevant research. 


Your immediate colleagues will consist of Javascript and PHP engineers, an Engineering Manager, a Product Manager, UX Designer, and UX Writer. Our team places great value on our collaborative and communicative work culture and we eagerly anticipate integrating a new Engineer into this environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Write high quality, well documented React Native code.
  • Autonomously debug legacy React Native code
  • Maintain and improve build pipelines needed to ship iOS and Android applications
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers and other Software Engineers to deliver compelling mobile user experiences
  • Willingness to create web interfaces in React and GraphQL when needed


Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of professional experience with React Native, React and Typescript - must have
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer
  • Knowledge of state management (Redux).
  • Familiarity with native build tools, like XCode or Gradle (Android Studio or IntelliJ)
  • Exceptional English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You work well within a team environment and enjoy working remotely and at the office with your colleagues.
  • You are methodical and persistent when troubleshooting difficult problems across numerous technologies.
  • It’s a big plus if you have experience with GraphQL and/or a testing framework.
