As a Full Stack engineer in the Freemium Business Unit, you will have the opportunity to have a significant impact on Spotify’s growth by reaching new users, markets and audiences. We achieve this by truly understanding the needs of our users, and by innovating to tackle real problems for them, building solutions across the entire Spotify infrastructure to support our goal.

This position in the Messaging Platform Tooling team leads a critical platform piece, an internal website that operators use to deliver emails, push notifications and in-app messaging for the entire Spotify user base. The platform supports the creation, targeting, selection and delivery insights of Billions of messages across different channels.

What You'll Do
  • Work on a multi-functional team of engineers who own the operator facing messaging web application
  • Collaborate with other software engineers, product managers, designers, analysts and leaders around the company
  • Complete and deliver impactful features on the core web applications to improve workflows for our operators
  • Primarily be involved in frontend development, as well as some backend development
  • Monitor, test and continuously optimize your designs
  • Deliver testable, maintainable and high-quality code
  • Be a valued contributor in a multi-functional agile team
  • Share your knowledge, promote standard processes, and collaborate with some of the best engineers in the company

Who You Are
  • You’re a developer with 3+ years of working experience as a Full Stack Engineer
  • You are proficient in the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Styled Components and GraphQL. You have experience with at least one modern backend programming language
  • You have a good understanding of JS design patterns, data structures, web architecture and understand how to apply them to craft pragmatic solutions
  • You have some experience in backend development and building APIs that glue frontend features together
  • You have experience working directly with designers, product owners and collaborators to understand, document and develop web features to meet their requirements, driving increased adoption and reducing reliance on custom one-off implementations
  • You understand the importance of observability and monitoring
  • You love working in an environment where you constantly deliver and iterate quickly
  • You believe data and metrics are the most powerful tools for informed decision-making
  • You have a good understanding of system design, api, and ui/ux design
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and can communicate your ideas, and bring others along in your thinking
  • You are autonomous, taking full ownership of your work and driving your personal development
  • You hold yourself and others accountable, taking responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way
  • You value team success over personal success, and have the ability to both up-lift and up-level other engineers

The United States base range for this position $140,246 - $175,308, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six months of paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, and 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
