Spotify is hiring Frontend Engineers to join Spotify Advertising. We work at the intersection of advertising and messaging technologies to connect millions of brands to billions of fans. You’ll help us define and materialize our vision to improve the ad experience for our advertisers alike, and grow our advertising business to be market leader. 

We are looking for engineers that share our common interest in distributed systems, their scalability, and continued development. You will collaborate closely with our core ads engineers to figure out the best ways to build and drive revenue on our advertiser business management platform. As an example, you will help our team build the frontend systems that powers ad studio (adstudio.spotify.com) and scale our Ads API. You will collaborate on the design of highly distributed systems across the ads ecosystem at Spotify. We’re a truly full stack team with expertise in mobile, web, backend, and our culture emphasizes creative problem solving, fast iteration and execution.

What You'll Do
  • Work on a cross-functional team of engineers who own the advertiser-facing business management platform in order to develop a new web app framework to unlock efficient development across advertiser experience products.
  • Collaborate with key internal partners to determine how to scalably design and build an API-first advertiser business management platform.
  • Share your knowledge, promote best practices, and collaborate with some of the best web engineers in the company.
  • Execute and deliver impactful updates on some of the core legacy web applications to improve workflows for our advertisers.
  • Work with frontend and backend engineers across the ads technical stack to develop applications for advertisers of all sizes - from the world’s largest brands and agencies to SMBs and personal brands.
  • Be a valued contributor in an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
  • Be a member of the Spotify-wide frontend developer community affecting and driving our architecture across the company.
  • Work on what you want during regular hack days and annual hack weeks

Who You Are
  • You’re an experienced Javascript developer with 5+ years of working experience as a Frontend Engineer working with React.js, Node.js & GraphQL. Additional tools and technologies such as Next JS, GCP, Google PubSub, Kafka, Big Query are a plus.
  • You are proficient in the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby, React, and Styled Components.
  • You have a deep understanding of JS design patterns, data structures, and web architecture and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
  • You have experience in ad tech - ideally working on business management, ad account creation, campaign booking and management, pixels and measurement, payments, billing and/or reporting.
  • You have experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document and develop APIs and systems to meet their requirements, driving increased adoption and reducing reliance on custom one-off implementations.
  • You have written distributed microservices and know how to deploy and keep them running in production.
  • You love working in an environment where you constantly deliver and iterate quickly.
  • You believe data and user research are the most powerful tools for informed decision-making.
  • You have a deep understanding of system design, api, and ui/ux design.
  • You enjoy frontend development, but aren’t afraid to lean into backend development if your team needs it.
  • You are a good communicator and an empathetic, attentive listener with the capability to anticipate the needs of partners.
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and can communicate your ideas, and bring others along in your thinking.
  • You are autonomous, taking full ownership of your work and driving your personal development.
  • You hold yourself and others accountable, taking responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way.
  • You value team success over personal success, and have the ability to both up-lift and up-level other engineers.

The United States base range for this position is $156,275-$223,250, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. This range encompasses multiple levels. Leveling is determined during the interview process.  Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance. These ranges may be modified in the future.
